The purpose of this blog is three-fold. Firstly, it is a record for me so I don’t ever forget about the amazing experiences I have in Africa. Secondly, it is a way of updating my friends and family back home on what I get up to. Thirdly though, and most importantly, through writing this blog I intend to shine a positive light on Africa. In the Western world, there is a tendency to think that Africa is full of suffering and poverty. Yes, that is a reality here but it is a reality elsewhere too. It is not unique to Africa. However, the uniqueness of Africa – the reasons why I am proud to call this continent my home, is worth writing about. The stunning scenery, the vibrant colours, the amazing cultures, the interesting history, the incredible wildlife and the beautiful people….what’s not to love?!
